Modernist Design System

A single, versioned design system shared across every app in the portfolio — no CMS, spec-driven.

Modernist Design System

Modernist is a real, versioned package — tokens and utility classes, no components or build step — that this site hosts as the source of truth. It's consumed as-is by a car-telemetry dashboard, a personal-finance app, and a Flask app on a different machine entirely, each pulling the same colors, type, and spacing rather than reimplementing the look per app. That shared foundation is what makes spec-driven design and development possible without a CMS in the loop.

Role

Solo build: token architecture, distribution, and cross-app adoption — orchestrated end-to-end with Claude.

Outcomes
  • One shared package styling four independent apps across three different tech stacks and two machines.
  • New consumers need zero build step — some link straight to the stylesheet and pick up edits on next page load.
